Mrs. Kay Stagg
I graduated from Texas Women's University in 1994 with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. I taught one year in Nocona and have been in Bowie ISD ever since. I have been in all grades from first through fifth teaching students with learning differences. I taught as a general education teacher in third grade on year. It was a wonderful experience, but I felt the call to return to the world of special learners. In 2007 I competed the Learning Therapy Certificate Program at Southern Methodist University, which qualified me to be a Certified Academic Language Therapist. I am also licensed with the State of Texas as a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist.
Working with students with dyslexia is very personal for me. My son and grandson are both dyslexic. I have shared in their education journeys and watched as they struggled. They are my inspiration.
My philosophy of education is borrowed from Oscar Wilde who said, "The best way to make children good is to make them happy.' I add to that,"The best way to make them happy is to make them successful, and that is my job!"
