🚨 Important Vaccination Information for the 2026-2027 School Year 🚨
As we prepare for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, now is the perfect time to review your child’s immunization records.
Texas State Law requires all students to have updated vaccination records or a valid exemption on file before the first day of school.
✔️ If your child is fully vaccinated or has a current exemption (expires every two years) already on file with the school nurse — No action is needed!
❗ If your child needs vaccinations or you have not submitted updated records, we encourage you to take care of this over the summer to avoid any delays in enrollment.

Mark your calendars for the Bowie ISD Back to School Bash scheduled for August 1st. If you would like to make a donation, please email Tabatha Jones at tabatha.jones@bowieisd.net.
After consulting with the the City of Bowie Emergency Management Coordinator about the forecast for tomorrow night, it has been decided to move graduation into the Bowie High School gym. The National Weather Service is predicting 68% of rain with a marginal risk for severe storms tomorrow evening. Each senior will have 8 tickets for gym seating. The ceremony will be streamed in the cafeteria for any guests that do not have a ticket. Doors to the gym will be open at 7:15 for the 8:00 ceremony. Please understand that much thought was put into this decision taking into consideration how this effects so many friends and family along with the necessary preparation for graduation.

Bowie ISD will have a regular school day on Friday, April 24, as the first of two required make-up days. The second make-up day will be Friday, May 15.

📢 BISD STAAR/EOC Testing – Important Information 📢
The BISD Testing Calendar provides parents with all testing dates for every grade level. It is crucial that students are present on their scheduled testing day or the following day for make-up exams.
🔹 Plan Ahead:
✔️ If you anticipate a scheduling conflict, please contact your child’s campus as soon as possible.
✔️ Avoid scheduling appointments or campus visits on testing days, as state assessments have a 7-hour time limit (one full school day).
🔹 Between now and testing day:
📌 Stay alert to an informational session from your chld's campus about STAAR and testing dates.
📌 Visit TEA's testing family page for any information you may need and to do practice tests. From this https://www.texasassessment.gov/families.html page you click on the Practice Test card and then put in the specific test you want to look at. These are just like the STAAR test and will help prepare your child for April testing.
📌 If your school has invited your child to a bootcamp or tutorials, please make sure they attend. This small group specific instruction could help your child be approaches or meets on their assessment.

After gathering input from our Calendar Committee, surveying parents and staff, and working closely with administration, the BISD Board of Trustees has officially adopted the 2026–2027 Instructional Calendar! ✅
🔹 What’s Staying the Same?
✔️ Monday–Thursday school week remains for consistency
✔️ Minimal changes to maintain a familiar routine for students and staff
🔹 Key Adjustments:
🍂 A full week off for Thanksgiving has been restored based on Calendar Committee feedback
🏈 Traditional Homecoming festivities will include a ½ day of school on September 18
⛈️ Bad weather days are scheduled for April 16, with one additional day banked through excess minutes beyond the required 75,600 instructional minutes
