📣 BISD Weather Make-Up Day Update ⛅ Due to the inclement weather days and one late start used earlier this school year, BISD has made the following calendar adjustments: 🗓️ Friday, April 25, 2025 This date will NOT be used as a make-up day. It will remain a Flex Day for students and staff. 🕒 Thursday, May 22, 2025 - Last Day of School Additional minutes will be added to our early release schedule to make up for instructional time missed during the late start. Dismissal times will be as follows: 📘 Bowie Elementary – 1:40 PM 📗 Bowie Intermediate – 1:45 PM 📙 Bowie Junior High – 1:50 PM 📕 Bowie High School – 2:00 PM Thank you for your continued support and flexibility as we adjust to meet state requirements and maintain high-quality instruction for all students.

The additional day the district used for bad weather was made up with "banked" minutes in the 24-25 calendar. 🕒 Friday, May 23, 2025 To make up for instructional time missed during the late start, two hours will be added to our early release schedule. Bowie ISD would like to invite all Emergent Bilinguals (ESL families) to the Bowie Public Library to see their services and to enjoy a storytime provided by our Bowie High School Emergent Bilingual students. We will take a tour, learn about the summer reading program, and then hear storytime. You will also learn how the library can help provide a literacy-rich home for your child and improve their literacy skills. Join us at the Bowie Public Library on April 24, 2025, at 5:00 PM. A translator will be present. El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Bowie invita a todas las familias de estudiantes bilingües emergentes (ESL) a la Biblioteca Pública de Bowie para conocer sus servicios y disfrutar de una hora de cuentos impartida por nuestros estudiantes bilingües emergentes de la Escuela Preparatoria Bowie. Haremos un recorrido, conoceremos el programa de lectura de verano y luego escucharemos la hora de cuentos. También aprenderán cómo la biblioteca puede ayudar a proporcionar un hogar con un alto potencial de lectoescritura para su hijo/a y a mejorar sus habilidades de lectoescritura. BISD is proud to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students — because we believe every child deserves a healthy meal to fuel their day! Did you know we also offer a Smart Snacks program? Smart Snacks are a fun, low-cost way to reward students for a job well done. Most snack items are available for less than $2.00 and can be purchased after a student has eaten their lunch. Parents can easily add funds to their student’s “LunchMoneyNow” account by visiting the district website.

We will see you tomorrow at the BHS Jackrabbit Preview. EVERY 9th-grade parent must sign their child's graduation plan before schedule pick-ups in August. Please do not wait until then to sign. A dual credit meeting will begin at 5:00 for families interested in their child taking courses at NCTC in high school. The Jackrabbit Preview will start at 5:30 for all students.

Parents, Please make plans to attend the BHS Jackrabbit Preview on April 7. This is an essential night for entering freshmen and their families. EVERY parent must sign their child's graduation plan before a schedule can be handed out in August. Please avoid waiting until August to get this taken care of. Parents and students will be presented with options for their student's high school journey. There is a dual credit meeting beginning at 5:00 for any families interested in their child taking courses at NCTC in high school. At 5:30, the Jackrabbit Preview will start for all students. 📢 BISD School Board Adopts 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar! 📢 After gathering input from our Calendar Committee, surveying parents and staff, and working closely with administration and school board members, the BISD Board of Trustees has officially adopted the 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar! ✅ 🔹 What’s Staying the Same?
 ✔️ Monday-Thursday school week remains for consistency
 ✔️ Minimal changes to keep a familiar routine 🔹 Key Adjustments: 
📅 Additional 2,100 minutes are required by the state due to the inability to secure a professional development waiver for the 25-26 school year
 🍂 Students will attend Monday & Tuesday before Thanksgiving per the request of the survey🏈 Traditional Homecoming festivities will occur with a ½ day of school on September 19th 
🇺🇸 Majority of stakeholders preferred school on Monday holidays to maintain Friday flexibility
