Gifted & Talented Public Notice Bowie ISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of the education needs of the student. Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Bowie ISD in kindergarten through twelfth grade this school year is asked to go by the student’s campus office and request a copy of the referral form. This form must be returned to the school by December 19, 2024. Those unable to go by the school should call their child’s campus to request a form be sent to them. Aviso público de dotados y talentosos Bowie ISD está aceptando referencias para los estudiantes que necesiten los servicios del programa Gifted / Talentoso para el año escolar. Este programa está diseñado para estudiantes que exhiben habilidades intelectuales y creativas a un nivel extraordinario, que normalmente los servicios no se dan en el salón de clase regular. Los servicios serán proveídos solamente cuando se le identifique las necesidades del estudiante. Cualquiera que desee referir a un estudiante que este asistiendo a la Escuela del Distrito Escolar de Bowie del grado kindergarten hasta el grado doce de este año escolar se les pide que vayan a la oficina de la escuela que el estudiante esté asistiendo y pedir una copia de la forma de referencia. Esta forma se debe de regresar a la escuela el 19 de diciembre, 2024. Los que no pueden ir a la escuela favor de hablar por teléfono de la escuela para pedir que la forma se les mande a ellos.

Good morning! This week we will kick off our fundraiser for the year...Adventure Dash! Be on the lookout for more information coming home starting tomorrow! Also, choices for lunch will be limited on Thursday. We are having our holiday meal through the cafeteria, for the students. They will serve traditional Thanksgiving food, so if your student is a little picky, please send them with a lunch that day. Thank you!

BISD will conduct our annual Canned Food Drive for the Bowie Mission November 13-20, 2024. We are so blessed to live in a community that helps our families, and now they need our help to fill the shelves for the holiday season. You can send the non-perishable items to your child's school. Specific items in need are Cereal, Crackers, Canned soup, Macaroni, Canned chili, or any other items you can give. #bowiebuilt #mission #community

BISD would like to invite our emergent bilingual parents to a “Zoom Watch Party.” This event will focus on educating emergent bilingual parents with the required parent and family literacy services, activities, and training to improve their English language skills. We will have popcorn and drinks to enjoy as we listen to the presenter. The presentation will be in English and Spanish. The Watch Party will be on November 14, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 pm at Bowie ISD Central Admin Building. The address is 404 East Williams St, the last building behind Bowie Intermediate. BISD quisiera invitar a nuestros padres bilingües emergentes a una “Zoom Watch Party”. Este evento se centrará en educar a los padres bilingües emergentes con los servicios, actividades y capacitación necesarios de alfabetización para padres y familias para mejorar sus habilidades en el idioma inglés. Tendremos palomitas y bebidas para disfrutar mientras escuchamos al presentador. La presentación será en inglés y español. Bowie Intermediate encouraged students to participate in a pumpkin character decorating contest. This project was completely voluntary, and 96 students participated. The students were to select a book and then decorate a pumpkin of the main character from a book they had read. We are so proud of the level of participation and quality of work that was turned in. Outstanding job to the students and families #Bowiebuilt

Our third graders received a special gift today – the gift of words. The Rotary dictionary project is a nationwide effort to provide young students with their own personal dictionaries. Members of the Bowie Rotary Club distributed the dictionaries to the 3rd grade students at Bowie Intermediate school. We are thankful for these individuals who have invested in the education of our students at BISD #BowieBuilt.

The football boys and cheerleaders were greeters this morning during drop-off. Our students love to see them, get a high five, and shake their hands. It is a great day to be a Jackrabbit! #bowiebuilt

October is Principal Appreciation Month! We can't let the month end without recognizing this amazing group of educators. Our BISD principals are top notch and work tirelessly to move our district forward, maintain high standards of instruction, and create a positive culture on each campus. Remember, passing a school bus is illegal and can be deadly for kids. 🛑 When you see flashing red lights and a stop arm extended, you MUST come to a complete stop. This isn’t just a suggestion; it’s the law! 🔶 Yellow lights mean the bus is getting ready to stop. Slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle. You can only move once the red lights are off and the bus is moving again.
