Visitors welcome- teachers will be sending out the specific times for each of their classes. Please make every effort to come during that timeslot BUT we understand that may not fit into your schedule so come when you can. We would LOVE to have a few volunteers to work the bookfair. The third and final meeting to share concerns or issues with district leaders is this Thursday, April 16 at 5:30. The forum will be in the BISD Administration building at 404 East Williams Street. 📢 BISD School Board Adopts 2026–2027 Instructional Calendar! 📢
After gathering input from our Calendar Committee, surveying parents and staff, and working closely with administration, the BISD Board of Trustees has officially adopted the 2026–2027 Instructional Calendar! ✅
🔹 What’s Staying the Same?
✔️ Monday–Thursday school week remains for consistency
✔️ Minimal changes to maintain a familiar routine for students and staff
🔹 Key Adjustments:
🍂 A full week off for Thanksgiving has been restored based on Calendar Committee feedback
🏈 Traditional Homecoming festivities will include a ½ day of school on September 18
⛈️ Bad weather days are scheduled for April 16, with one additional day banked through excess minutes beyond the required 75,600 instructional minutes
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback. Your input helps us shape the best possible schedule for our students and staff. 📚✨ #Bowiebuilt

Bowie ISD understands that recent winter weather and school closures may create challenges for our families. When roads are unsafe and access to work, stores, or school is limited, we want our community to know that you are not alone.
Bowie ISD will continue to offer our Backpack Buddy food program this week. This program provides an additional backpack/sack of food for the weekend, made possible through the generosity of our local church and business partners.
Food distribution will take place at Bowie Intermediate School on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:00-2:00 PM. This opportunity is available to all students in grades K–12 who traditionally receive weekend food support.
We hope this helps those in need until we see everyone back on Monday!

After driving our campuses, side streets, and rural areas, we’ve decided to cancel school for Thursday, January 29, 2026, as road conditions have not improved enough to safely transport students.

Due to winter weather conditions, accumulated precipitation is not melting off the streets as we would hope. While main roads in town are currently drivable, side streets, driveways, and dirt roads still have significant accumulation.
Many of our students and buses would be required to travel these potentially dangerous roads in the early morning hours, before temperatures rise above freezing. Out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, Bowie ISD will be closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Ongoing inclement weather and poor road conditions have informed this decision. At this time, no significant temperature improvement is expected today.
