BISD will conduct our annual Canned Food Drive for the Bowie Mission November 13-20, 2024. We are so blessed to live in a community that helps our families, and now they need our help to fill the shelves for the holiday season. You can send the non-perishable items to your child's school. Specific items in need are Cereal, Crackers, Canned soup, Macaroni, Canned chili, or any other items you can give. #bowiebuilt #mission #community

But it can also be a stressful time for parents and children who may find themselves needing more support to help make the holiday season one their family deserves. Bowie Elementary would like to honor all that have served and are current serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. It is because of your sacrifice that we continue to have the freedoms that we so often take for granted. Thank you all.
BISD would like to invite our emergent bilingual parents to a “Zoom Watch Party.” This event will focus on educating emergent bilingual parents with the required parent and family literacy services, activities, and training to improve their English language skills. We will have popcorn and drinks to enjoy as we listen to the presenter. The presentation will be in English and Spanish. The Watch Party will be on November 14, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 pm at Bowie ISD Central Admin Building. The address is 404 East Williams St, the last building behind Bowie Intermediate.

October is Principal Appreciation Month! We can't let the month end without recognizing this amazing group of educators. Our BISD principals are top notch and work tirelessly to move our district forward, maintain high standards of instruction, and create a positive culture on each campus. Thank you to Kathy Green, Jason Childress, Jeneanne Fleming, and Joanne Keeler for all you do in Bowie ISD!

Are you looking for a fun, family friendly event on Saturday, October 26th? Come support the Class of 2025 Project Graduation by attending the Fall Festival and Haunted House. There will also be carnival games, cake walk, silent auction and concession stand.
Red Ribbon Week starts next week, Oct 28-31. Join the fun and participate in the dress-up days as we pledge to be drug and bully-free. Students will be doing lessons provided by our counselors and teachers and hearing announcements on making good choices. https://bit.ly/4e1hips

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s NHTSA reminds all drivers to slow down and stay alert around school buses. Remember, passing a school bus is illegal and can be deadly for kids.
🛑 When you see flashing red lights and a stop arm extended, you MUST come to a complete stop. This isn’t just a suggestion; it’s the law!
🔶 Yellow lights mean the bus is getting ready to stop. Slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle. You can only move once the red lights are off and the bus is moving again.
Stay aware of the “Danger Zone”—the area around the bus where children are most at risk, including:
-10 feet in front of the bus
-10 feet on either side of the bus
-Behind the bus
